Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions.
What people ask before sending a document in for translation.
My document type is not listed — can you still translate it?
Almost certainly. These thirty are the ones people ask for most, not a closed list; certified translation is the same service whatever the document is. Upload it for a free quote, or send us a description and we will tell you plainly whether we can source a translator with the right subject experience.
How is a page counted, and what does it cost?
Certified translation is $18.00 per page, where a page is standardised at up to 250 words rather than a physical sheet. The price calculator counts the words in your file, works out the page count, and shows the total and a delivery estimate before you order. A dense single sheet can therefore be more than one page, and a sparse one is still just one.
Do you translate every stamp and seal, or only the text?
Everything. Seals, stamps, registry endorsements, marginal notes, and handwritten annotations are translated or described in place. A translation that silently leaves something out is the single most common reason one gets sent back, and on a civil record the stamp is often the part the clerk is checking.
Can I send a phone photo, or does it have to be a scan?
A clear photo is fine. Upload a photo, scan, PDF, or Word file — what matters is that every edge of the document is in frame and the text is legible. You will receive a formatted PDF with the certificate attached, and a printed copy by post if you add one.
Do different document types cost different amounts?
No. The rate is per page regardless of what the document is, so a birth certificate and a patent specification are priced the same way. What changes is which translator it is routed to — legal, medical, academic, or financial subject experience — and that is included, not an upcharge.
