Verified ATA Corporate Member
We reference our American Translators Association (ATA) membership across our site as one small piece of evidence that we're a real, accountable business, not just a claim we're asking you to take on faith. This page explains exactly what that membership is, how you can verify it independently in under a minute, and, just as importantly, what it doesn't mean.
Our ATA Membership
cloud translate holds ATA Corporate Membership #280493. The American Translators Association is the leading professional association for translators and interpreters in the United States.
Verify This Yourself, Independently
Don't take our word for it, look it up directly on ATA's own website, which we don't control:
ATA Member Directory: atanet.org/directory
- Go to ATA's public member directory.
- Search by our company name ("cloud translate") or member number (#280493).
- Confirm the listing matches the name and number shown on this page.
What ATA Membership Actually Means
We'd rather be precise than impressive-sounding. ATA membership is open to any business or individual with an interest in translation as a profession; it's granted by applying and paying dues, not by passing an exam. What it genuinely means: we've agreed to ATA's Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, and we're part of a real, established professional community, not an anonymous website. What it doesn't mean is covered next.
Membership vs. Certification — An Important Distinction
ATA Membership and ATA Certification are two different credentials, and we're careful not to blur them. Membership (what we hold) doesn't test any individual translator's skill. ATA Certification is a separate, more rigorous credential an individual translator earns by passing ATA's own certification exam for a specific language pair, and it's verified on a different page of ATA's own site entirely. We don't claim our company or our translators are "ATA certified" unless that's specifically true and stated, with the individual translator and language pair named, and independently verifiable on ATA's certified-translator lookup.

What Actually Drives Translation Quality on Your Order
Our ATA membership is a credential about our business, not a quality guarantee for any single translation. What actually keeps your translation accurate is our process: a professional translator completes it, and a second linguist checks it before you receive it, backed by our 100% acceptance guarantee if something still goes wrong.
See our Guarantee page for how that backstop works.

Frequently asked questions
Does ATA membership mean cloud translate is "ATA certified"?
No, and we're careful not to imply that. ATA membership and ATA certification are two different things (see "Membership vs. Certification" above). We hold ATA membership. We don't claim ATA certification for our company or for any specific translator unless we say so explicitly and can back it up.
How do I verify this membership myself, without trusting this page?
Search ATA's own public directory at atanet.org/directory/ for our member number, #280493. That's the independent source; this page is just pointing you to it.
If membership doesn't require an exam, why does it matter?
It means we've agreed to ATA's Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and are part of the leading professional association for translators and interpreters in the U.S. It's a real, verifiable credential, just not a substitute for the quality process described in "What Actually Drives Translation Quality on Your Order" above, which is what actually drives translation accuracy on your order.
Does my document need to be translated by an ATA-certified translator specifically?
Usually not. USCIS and most U.S. agencies accept a certified translation with a signed Certificate of Accuracy from any competent translator, they don't require ATA certification specifically. Some courts or foreign consulates occasionally do; if you're not sure, tell us where your document is going and we'll confirm before you order.
